START IMMEDIATELY: Kleiwerks International is looking for native Spanish speakers to work as volunteer interns for the Women of the Americas Sustainability Initiative (WASI) who can write professional English to Spanish translations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Help translate official documents, surveys, publications, and posts to help our website become multi-lingual. SKILLS: Complete fluency in Spanish, strong writing skills in both languages, and attention to detail are a must. We are seeking people who love to write, are comfortable working independently and as a team player. OPPORTUNITY: Get real, solid experience as a translator. Be fully supported and mentored by experienced staff. Help better the lives and build an alliance of thousands of women across South, Central and North America. COMMITMENT: We are looking for a commitment of 5-10 hours per week through January 2012 with the potential of longer. Potential funders have been identified by KI’s Development Director and WASI’s Grant Writing Coordinator. RESPONSIBILITIES: Help draft full proposals and letters of inquiry to both national and international foundations and get them submitted by deadline. SKILLS: Strong writing skills, some grant-writing experience, and attention to detail are a must. We are seeking people who love to write, are comfortable working independently and as a team player. OPPORTUNITY: Get real, solid experience as a grant writer. Be fully supported and mentored by experienced development staff. Kleiwerks International has conducted groundbreaking work in natural building and permaculture with communities for over a decade. It’s time to share the story!
START IMMEDIATELY: We are looking for a talented Multimedia Story-Teller to develop short videos about the thriving global natural building movement. RESPONSIBILITIES: This position primarily entails media and content production, including working with 10 years of logged video and photo archives. You will produce multimedia material about the thriving global natural building movement through promotional “storytelling” pieces that will be posted to our website and YouTube. This will support both Kleiwerks International’s current initiatives and the global movement of projects, centers, teachers and students. SKILLS: Experience with video editing and successfully composing and executing a compelling storyline are a must. You must be well-organized, self-motivated, attentive to detail, and have strong skills in video editing, graphic layout, and communications. OPPORTUNITY: Collaborate with Kleiwerks International’s Founding Director (Janell Kapoor) and our 10 years of incredible photo and video archives from communities around the world. If you do high quality work and have a sharp eye for details, there will be a lot of creative independence on this project, and you will be encouraged to take an active “partnership” role in guiding our process. You will be a respected, valued part of our team and will be able to say that you have contributed meaningfully to the global ecological building movement. COMMITMENT: Ideally, you live in the Ashville, NC area so that you can work in-person with us at our eco-urban permaculture demonstration site, as well as at your own office/home, but this is not mandatory. If you’re a great fit, we look forward to working with you wherever you are. You must have your own laptop and software. 10 hours per week minimum is required; more is welcome. START IMMEDIATELY: Kleiwerks International is looking for a volunteer Website and WordPress Developer to continue updating and building our existing website. You will work closely with our Communications & Research Fellow, Meredith Marks. RESPONSIBILITIES: Depending on your skills, tasks may include: posting updates about current and past projects, media and interviews, editing code, developing website infrastructure, increasing web traffic, interfacing with social media, and some graphic lay-out. SKILLS: Experience with WordPress and web coding are a must. Knowledge of web design and social media are a plus. We are seeking someone who is well-organized, self-motivated, attentive to detail, and who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team. OPPORTUNITY: Get real, solid experience and build your portfolio as a WordPress programmer. Be supported and mentored by our staff. You’ll be a valued part of our team while helping to tell a global story of groundbreaking work in natural building, permaculture and community empowerment. COMMITMENT: This position requires 10 hours+ per week for at least three months, ideally more. You must be able to work remotely, have your own laptop and software, and be available for Skype calls. START IMMEDIATELY: Kleiwerks International is looking for a savvy and experienced volunteer News and Social Media Coordinator to write national (and perhaps international) press releases, as well as direct social media ventures for the Women of the Americas Sustainability Initiative (WASI). RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include writing, editing, and collaborating with staff with regards to press releases for news publications and radio, writing social media content, and keeping content current and networked. SKILLS: Individual needs to love what WASI is all about, and be professional, well-organized, self-motivated, and excited about the natural building movement and gender justice. Strong communication skills – both written and oral – and a team-player attitude are must-haves. Existing contacts with national news agencies are strongly preferred. OPPORTUNITY: Collaborate closely with WASI’s team of talented women leaders. Bring your skills and experience to a powerful initiative that will build an alliance and better the lives of thousands of women across South, Central and North America.
