How the earthen building movement started in Thailand

2001: The year begins with Janell Kapoor meeting Pracha on a fishing boat off a little nature preserve island. Pracha was the Director of Wongsanit Ashram. He invited Janell and Michel Spaan, of Kleiwerks International (just becoming international), to teach an earthen building workshop at Wongsanit. Many leaders wanted to attend. Jon Jandai attended, as well as Phairin Phonsura, Thana and Dai. 2002: Jon Jandai and Janell Kapoor went on to teach more workshops with participants from the Assembly of the Poor, Santi Asok, and other networks. Everyone else started on their projects, programs and businesses. The media did a fine job of spreading the muddy stories. The movement was launched…
