WOMEN’S ASSISTANT POSITIONS AVAILABLE: MUD BUILDERS, CARPENTERS & MULTIMEDIA STORYTELLERS. Kleiwerks International and Sust ‘ainable Molokai are teaming up on a Women of the Americas Sustainability Initiative (WASI) building project and 3-Month Women’s Natural Building Apprenticeship on the island of Molokai, Hawaii. We are looking for two women assistants in exchange for learning natural building at the apprenticeship. DATES: Early September til mid-December, 2012 RESPONSIBILITIES: This position includes the following, which will be shared between two experienced women. • Building coordination • Some teaching • Logistical support • Assisting group flow • Documentation • Multimedia storytelling • Promotion SKILLS: The women we are looking for are passionate about the natural building movement, team work and women’s empowerment. Leadership, self-initiation and excellent communication skills are key. You must have a basic working knowledge of carpentry with a general understanding of framing, foundation and roofing systems. Previous experience with natural building is a must. We will give special consideration to women who have a background in group facilitation, event coordination, multimedia storytelling, documentation, social media outreach and/or marketing and promotions.

WORK EXCHANGE POSITION AVAILABLE: Documentation & Multimedia Specialist with WASI Canada

Available Position with WASI in Canada: This is an unpaid work-trade position to participate in the 10-Week EarthBag Dome Building Apprenticeship
DATES: The Apprenticeship is July 28 – Oct 6. We ask that the assistant be on site the week before. SKILLS: The woman we are looking for is passionate about the natural building movement, teamwork, women’s empowerment and indigenous community life. Leadership, self-initiation and excellent communication skills are key. You must have extensive experience in documentation and multimedia storytelling.We will give special consideration to women who are experienced in sharing what they know with others and other skills related to this program and project. RESPONSIBILITIES: Guide and produce the documentation and multimedia storytelling of the project and program. You will oversee and help coordinate the group’s engagement in this process so that: 1) daily footage is collected, 2) weekly updates are created, and 3) the group can learn from your expertise and share in the responsibilities. You will help the group learn how to document and tell the story so they can do it on their own projects following the Apprenticeship.

START IMMEDIATELY: Kleiwerks International is looking for native Spanish speakers to work as volunteer interns for the Women of the Americas Sustainability Initiative (WASI) who can write professional English to Spanish translations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Help translate official documents, surveys, publications, and posts to help our website become multi-lingual. SKILLS: Complete fluency in Spanish, strong writing skills in both languages, and attention to detail are a must. We are seeking people who love to write, are comfortable working independently and as a team player. OPPORTUNITY: Get real, solid experience as a translator. Be fully supported and mentored by experienced staff. Help better the lives and build an alliance of thousands of women across South, Central and North America. COMMITMENT: We are looking for a commitment of 5-10 hours per week through January 2012 with the potential of longer. Potential funders have been identified by KI’s Development Director and WASI’s Grant Writing Coordinator. RESPONSIBILITIES: Help draft full proposals and letters of inquiry to both national and international foundations and get them submitted by deadline. SKILLS: Strong writing skills, some grant-writing experience, and attention to detail are a must. We are seeking people who love to write, are comfortable working independently and as a team player. OPPORTUNITY: Get real, solid experience as a grant writer. Be fully supported and mentored by experienced development staff. Graphic Designer

START IMMEDIATELY: Kleiwerks International is looking for a volunteer graphic designer for the Women of the Americas Sustainability Initiative who will develop both web based and PDF graphics that creatively enhance WASI outreach materials. RESPONSIBILITIES:  Creation and development of WASI outreach material layout and graphics; development of eye catching graphic features for KI website and social media outlets. SKILLS: Innovative eye for design and experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, etc. ; self motivated with a commitment to fulfill project responsibilities; able to work independently as well as collaborate with WASI team to generate ideas and actualize graphic content. OPPORTUNITY: Build your design portfolio while working with dedicated women from across the Americas.  We have 10 years of photo archives to pull from and use as inspiration. Your art can help us make the case that ecological building is truly accessible to everyone and a viable alternative to expensive and toxic conventional building. COMMITMENT: The WASI Graphic Designer position is based in Asheville, NC and requires a commitment of 10 hours per week. Crowdfunding Campaigner

START IMMEDIATELY: Kleiwerks International is seeking a volunteer Crowdfunding Campaigner for its Women of the Americas Sustainability Initiative (WASI). Crowdfunding is a fundraising strategy where individuals or organizations raise money for a specific goal among their network. RESPONSIBILITIES:  • Create crowdfunding webpages using Crowdwise.com and/or Facebook causes  • Work closely with WASI’s Scholarship Coordinator to get content from participant groups as well as support individuals/organizations that are crowdfunding on behalf of a WASI participant group. SKILLS:  • Tech-savvy, with experience building webpages using a graphic user interface (e.g. wordpress, weebly, crowdwise, or any CMS).  • Self Interest in grassroots fundraising  and ideally have some experience raising money for causes. OPPORTUNITY: Get solid experience as a grassroots fundraiser in a web 2.0 environment. You will be fully supported and mentored by experienced development staff and join a team of dedicated women across the Americas. Help better the lives of thousands of women across South, Central and North America. COMMITMENT: We are looking for a commitment of at least 10 hours per week through March 2012 with the potential of staying on longer.
